Chiloian Gallery’s use of the blanket term “Northwest Persian Carpets” refers to carpets woven in the Northwest region of Persia in cities such as Hamadan, Malayer, Sarab & Bidjar.
Favoring geometric designs and central medallions, Hamadan and Malayer carpets draw upon tribal weaving traditions of the region.
Sarab carpets are also like the pair, however they are notable for their expert use of camel hair that adds a rustic and calming feel to carpets.
Finally, Bidjar carpets are known as the “Iron Rugs of Persia”, testament to their durability and density.
